Yeumbeul-Comico : un réseau d’avortement clandestin démantelé, quatre arrestations et un « docteur » fantôme recherché
The Yeumbeul-Comico district police station, under the direction of Commissioner Ousmane Diop, has carried out another successful operation, dismantling a network selling illegal abortion pills. Four individuals were arrested and taken into custody for attempted abortion, illegal sale of abortion pills, endangering the lives of others, and practicing pharmacy without a license.
It all started on the night of March 13, 2026, around 11 p.m. The police officers of the Research Brigade, on an investigation mission in Boune, acted on the basis of an anonymous information reporting the existence of a network that was selling abortifacient drugs to pregnant girls.
According to the source, a young woman recently ordered medication to terminate her pregnancy. The informant also provided investigators with the meeting place for the transaction, located near the Dibiterie roundabout in Keur Massar.
After several hours of surveillance, officers spotted a suspect on a Jakarta motorcycle heading to meet an unidentified individual. He was immediately apprehended, and a search of him yielded a package of medication labeled Misodia , containing six tablets: two amoxicillin, two ibuprofen, and two other unidentified tablets.
An accomplice, sensing the police presence, managed to escape.
Taken to the police station, the first suspect, identified by the initials MMN , 29 years old, a graphic designer, had his mobile phone examined by investigators. They intercepted a message from a second suspect, FB , 20 years old, a student, who complained of abdominal pain and persistent bleeding after taking the medication, according to Seneweb sources.
Thanks to the cooperation of the first person arrested, FB was also arrested. Further investigations led to the arrest of two other women on March 14, 2026, in Malika and Mbao: AF , 25, a shopkeeper residing in Pikine, and DN , 24, a housekeeper residing in Mbao.
The four accused, when questioned and their statements recorded, admitted to the charges against them.
During her hearing, MMN stated that she acquired the medication at "Keur Serigne Bi" in Dakar, on the advice of a foreign national she met on social media. This individual allegedly went by the pseudonym "Doctor" and gave the impression of being a physician by prescribing medication to her clients.
Having been informed of the case, prosecutor Saliou Dicko ordered the investigation to continue in order to find this phantom "doctor".
The seized medicines, the Jakarta motorcycle and the suspects' mobile phones have been placed under seal.
