Perturbations dans la disponibilité du carburant : Le ministère donne les raisons et annonce un retour à la normal
Long lines formed outside several gas stations in Dakar on Friday. Many motorists experienced difficulties refueling. The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has just provided an explanation for the situation and announced a return to normal starting Saturday, October 24, 2026.
In a statement seen by Seneweb, the department headed by Abdourahmane Diouf explains these disruptions by the difficulties in transporting goods due to the three-day general strike, in which hydrocarbon transporters took part.
The ministry, however, is keen to reassure users. According to them, "oil depots have stocks of premium gasoline and diesel." They further explain that "the disruptions observed are therefore not related to a lack of fuel," but rather to the interruption of deliveries to service stations.
With the end of the strike this Friday, deliveries can resume. The ministry anticipates that the distribution network should gradually return to normal operations. "In a few hours, starting Saturday, October 24, 2026, the affected service stations will be resupplied and distribution will return to normal," the statement indicates.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum is urging users to avoid panic buying, so as not to slow down the return to normal distribution.
