Bahrain's air defenses faced Iranian missile and drone fire on Sunday, the military of the small Gulf kingdom announced, amid a renewed exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran, despite the existing ceasefire.
The Bahraini army "intercepted and destroyed a number of projectiles used in these treacherous Iranian attacks," it said in a statement, adding that it was on "maximum alert."
Iran's Revolutionary Guards had announced earlier that they had launched attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for US strikes on their territory, with both sides accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.
