Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar claim to have faced Iranian attacks

Bahreïn, le Koweït et le Qatar affirment avoir fait face à des attaques iraniennes

Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar said on Friday they had faced Iranian attacks, including one targeting a power plant in Kuwait, after US bombings in Iran for the sixth consecutive night.

The Kuwaiti army reported overnight "drone and missile attacks" attributed to Iran. A power generation and water distillation plant was targeted, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity later announced.

The attack caused "a fire, damage and the destruction of several power generation units", he said in a statement, calling on users "to rationalize their electricity consumption during this exceptional phase".

The Iranian army had said earlier that it had targeted sites in Kuwait, using Arash-type drones, "deployment sites of US forces and logistical support to the US military," in response to US strikes against the Islamic Republic.

In Bahrain, Iran said it was targeting US military helicopters and reconnaissance aircraft stationed at Sakhir Air Base using drones in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian "urban infrastructure," according to a statement broadcast by state television.

Qatar, which is playing the role of mediator in talks with the United States alongside Pakistan and hosts the largest American base in the Middle East, has also suffered an Iranian attack.

"I knew it was going to happen any minute, but not this soon, especially since the Iranian Foreign Minister, Aragachi, just visited the country two days ago," Omar, a 22-year-old Jordanian student living in Qatar, told AFP.

Doha hosted the Iranian foreign minister on Wednesday to pay tribute to Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the deceased former emir.

The Revolutionary Guards said in a statement that they had targeted "the American air base at Al-Udeid in Qatar, in order to punish the aggressor and the American military."

A child was injured by falling debris resulting from the interception, the Interior Ministry later said.

The United States claimed to have attacked "Iranian military targets" overnight Thursday to Friday, but Tehran accuses Washington of having targeted civilian infrastructure.

An Iranian army spokesman, quoted by state television, warned at the time that "if the Americans strike the infrastructure of the Islamic Republic, then all the infrastructure in the region will become legitimate targets for Iran."
