The announcement of the verdict had sparked widespread outrage among the public present in the room, with some even going so far as to insult the Belgian judicial system and its representatives.
"I lost control."
On July 24, 2025, the man explained that he had invited his neighbor, Marc P., to his home in order to obtain explanations regarding the acts that the latter had allegedly committed against his stepson.
“I asked him if he knew why I had invited him to my house to talk. He replied that it was certainly about the ‘secret game’ he was playing with my son. I asked him what it consisted of. He replied that he blindfolded my son and made him suck things. I asked him what kind of things. He replied: ‘my penis.’ That’s when I lost control,” he said.
Marc P. was then allegedly violently attacked. Beaten repeatedly, he was left unconscious, lying on the ground. He is now in a semi-vegetative state, unable to communicate, feed himself, or move on his own.
A harsher sentence due to premeditation
The prosecution emphasized the premeditated nature of Grégory Lenoci's attack, citing several elements uncovered during the investigation. Among these were statements reported by Lenoci's psychologist. She stated that the accused had called her a few hours before the attack to tell her he "had arranged to meet Marc at 4 p.m."
He then added that he knew "he would get between 20 and 25 years for what he was about to do, but he had to defend his child. He won't leave my house alive," the psychologist continued. The expert explained that she immediately took these threats seriously and alerted the relevant authorities, believing that her patient was likely to act on them.
