Décès : Pourquoi Zlatan Ibrahimović n’a pas assisté aux obsèques de Franco Baresi
Zlatan Ibrahimović's absence from Franco Baresi's funeral, held this Tuesday in Milan, has raised questions. However, this absence is not believed to be due to a professional commitment or scheduling conflict. The former AC Milan striker simply chose to respect a personal rule he has followed for several years when faced with the loss of someone close to him or someone he knew during his career.
Despite the special relationship he had with Franco Baresi, an emblematic figure in the history of AC Milan, Ibrahimović did not take part in the ceremony organized at the Sant'Ambrogio basilica.
This decision is believed to be deeply linked to a family tragedy experienced by the Swede in 2014, with the death of his brother from leukemia.
Since this ordeal, Zlatan Ibrahimović has reportedly changed his way of experiencing grief and now favours a much more intimate approach, far from public ceremonies.
This choice is not new. The former Swedish international was already absent from the funeral of his former agent Mino Raiola, who died in 2022, as well as from the funeral of Silvio Berlusconi in 2023.
His absence from Franco Baresi's funeral was therefore part of this same personal approach. Even though he wasn't physically present in Milan, Ibrahimović chose to pay tribute to the Rossoneri legend in his own way, in accordance with his very personal way of dealing with grief.
