Détroit d’Ormuz : l’Iran affirme avoir frappé un pétrolier togolais
Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced on Friday, September 18, 2026, that they had struck and intercepted a Togolese-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement carried by the official news agency IRNA, they claim that the oil tanker Trend was targeted and intercepted after a fire broke out on board. Iranian authorities also accuse the ship of attempting an "illegal passage" through the strait.
On Thursday evening, the British Maritime Safety Agency (UKMTO) reported a "security incident" approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Khasab, in northern Oman. However, it provided no details about the vessel involved.
At this stage, no independent evidence confirms that the incident reported by UKMTO concerns the Trend . The exact circumstances of the interception and the condition of the vessel also remain to be established.
