Elon Musk va plancher sur les futures guerres des Etats-Unis
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday that Elon Musk would participate in a committee tasked with identifying the technologies and weapons the United States will need for its future wars.
Dubbed "Project Meridian", this program aims to "approach the future creatively by identifying the areas we need to conquer and the capabilities we need to master," explained Mr. Hegseth.
The goal, according to the head of the Pentagon, is "to achieve technological and military dominance on the battlefield for decades to come."
In addition to the head of Tesla and SpaceX, the committee includes Palmer Luckey, founder of the American defense company Anduril, and Newt Gingrich, 83, a former Republican elected official who presided over the House of Representatives.
For Elon Musk, this is a return to an official federal government mission, after having led, at Donald Trump's request, a commission named Doge tasked with cutting spending in the American public service.
"Project Meridian", which Pete Hegseth says brings together "three of the nation's brightest minds", is scheduled to be operational for 120 days.
Committed to a forced reform of the army, the Minister of Defense delivered a speech with macho overtones on Wednesday at the American base in Quantico, Virginia, highlighting in particular his reductions in personnel among generals and admirals.
