France : Son compagnon en lice à la présidentielle, la journaliste Léa Salamé quitte le 20h de France 2
Léa Salamé announced her withdrawal from presenting the 8 p.m. news on France 2, the day after the official announcement of her partner Raphaël Glucksmann's candidacy for the presidential election.
In a statement, the 46-year-old presenter asserts that this decision was not improvised.
"I made that commitment from day one and I'm sticking to it. I'm stepping back from presenting the 8 p.m. news for the duration of my partner's candidacy, just as I did during the last two European elections," she explains.

A decision described as obvious and difficult
Raphaël Glucksmann's partner invoked ethics and professional standards to justify her withdrawal from the 8 p.m. news. " This decision, made in agreement with my management, is both obvious and difficult," the journalist continued. "Obvious, because it stems from the strict professional ethics I have always adhered to. It primarily protects the France Télévisions newsroom, which is paramount to me. Difficult, because I love the news program we have built together, night after night, for the past year. Our only guiding principles: facts, independence, and pluralism. I am proud of all of this. Immensely proud. "
She keeps "What an era!"
Although Léa Salamé is temporarily leaving the 8 PM news, she is expected, according to our sources, to continue hosting her show Quelle époque!. However, she will refrain from conducting interviews with political figures for the duration of the presidential campaign.
