Israël soupçonne l' Iran de tramer un complot pour assassiner Donald Trump
Israeli intelligence services have passed information to Washington that Iran is preparing a plan to eliminate US President Donald Trump, the Wall Street Journal and CNN reported Thursday, citing anonymous sources.
According to reports from these two American media outlets, the alert reached Washington during the week. A source cited by CNN claims that Israeli intelligence confirmed the existence of an Iranian plot that had already been partially detected by American intelligence services. However, the details of the plan remain unclear, with both publications offering little information about its exact nature.
The White House does not deny it
When contacted by Agence France-Presse, the White House did not deny the reports. It simply preferred to rely on comments made by Donald Trump himself on Wednesday, in which the president claimed to be personally targeted, even saying he was "on some sort of list."
A context of Israeli-American tensions
These revelations come at a time when relations between Israel and the United States, as well as those between Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump, have recently become strained over the Iranian issue. The American president has repeatedly criticized the Israeli prime minister in recent weeks, particularly since Israel's war against Hezbollah in Lebanon has complicated negotiations with Tehran.
American sources cited by CNN believe that this information transfer by Mossad could also serve the interests of the Netanyahu government. The latter is reportedly seeking to convince Donald Trump to maintain his bombing campaign against Iran, which resumed this week.
