Justice : Raheem Sterling risque la prison après un accident de la route

Raheem Sterling is now facing British justice. The former England international has been charged following a traffic accident on May 28th on the M3 motorway in Hampshire.

According to information reported by The Telegraph, the 31-year-old player is being prosecuted for dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for illegal use by inhalation, and refusal to provide a sample after his arrest.

The incident occurred near the Minley interchange. Sterling was driving a Lamborghini when he was involved in a collision. According to police in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, no other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.

After his arrest, the player was released on bail. However, he will have to appear in court on September 15 to answer to the various charges against him.

A prison sentence could be imposed if convicted. Dangerous driving, in particular, is punishable, depending on the circumstances, by up to two years' imprisonment. At this stage, however, Sterling remains presumed innocent and no conviction has been handed down against him.

This legal action comes at a difficult time for the English striker. Without a club since the end of his stint at Feyenoord last season, Sterling is currently going through a complicated period in his career.

Having come through the ranks at Liverpool before making his mark at the highest level with Manchester City, he enjoyed his most successful years with the Citizens, notably winning four Premier League titles. He then joined Chelsea in 2022.

With 82 caps for England, Sterling remains one of the most experienced English players of his generation. His sporting future is now uncertain, while he will also have to deal with the legal fallout from this affair.
