Kim Jong-un ordonne aux Nord-Coréens de « transformer leurs chiens en soupe »
As North Korea faces an extreme heat wave, North Koreans are being encouraged to consume dog soup.
A state-run newspaper published an interview with a prominent doctor in the country, encouraging the population to prepare this controversial dish.
Translated as "sweet meat soup," the Rodong Sinmun article describes the dish as a "highly nutritious" food option capable of combating heatstroke symptoms such as "cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and hyperthyroidism," according to the South China Morning Post.
It has also long been believed to have aphrodisiac and immune system-boosting properties.
Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, has a restaurant specializing in dog meat, dangogi guk, which Kim Jong-un is a big fan of and which he serves at dinners and official events.
This advice comes as the Korean Peninsula experiences its worst heat wave in more than a century, with record temperatures ravaging farmland and overwhelming hospitals, both in the North and the South.
