La coalition dirigée par l'Arabie saoudite affirme avoir détruit plus de 100 cibles houthies
The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen said on Saturday it had destroyed more than 100 military targets in a "large-scale operation" against the Iranian-backed group.
The conflict between the Houthis and the internationally recognized Yemeni government — backed by Saudi Arabia — resumed in July and has since spread to the neighboring kingdom.
"We are conducting a large-scale operation targeting the personnel and capabilities of the Houthi terrorist militia," wrote Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, on X.
"We have destroyed 136 military targets in areas controlled by the Houthi terrorist militia," he said in another message.
The Houthi-affiliated Almasirah television channel reported that Saudi missiles had targeted areas in the Saada governorate in northwestern Yemen.
In addition to seizing territory along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, the Houthis have attacked transport hubs, oil facilities and other civilian targets in Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest exporter of crude oil, using drones and missiles.
Saudi Arabia said on Friday that attacks on Riyadh's international airport had killed three people the previous day, when the Houthis claimed responsibility for hitting the airport.
Houthi media reported that two people died in Saudi attacks on the airport in Sanaa, the Yemeni capital controlled by the Houthis.
Saudi and Yemeni government forces have struggled to repel the Houthi advance, despite a counter-offensive aimed at regaining control of the territory, particularly the area around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, crucial for global maritime transport.
