Following the National Assembly, the Senate adopted the emergency agricultural bill in the early hours of Friday, July 3, 2026, not without irritating the government, the left, and environmental groups over certain contentious aspects such as pesticides and water management. Approved by 219 votes to 111, with the support of the right-wing and centrist alliance, the bill, demanded this winter by disgruntled farmers, will now be debated between members of parliament and senators on July 16, with the aim of final adoption by Parliament the following week.
