Iran responds to Trump and rejects any discussions with the United States

L'Iran répond à Trump et rejette toute discussion avec les Etats-Unis

Iran's top security official on Tuesday rejected any dialogue with the United States to end the war as it stands, after Donald Trump said he was "open" to discussion.

"Don't be distracted by the mixed signals from the US president, who alternates between 'no negotiations' and 'we are ready to talk' with Iran," wrote Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, on X.

"No discussion until Iran's conditions are met. Period!", added Mr. Rezaei in a message in English that appears to be a direct response to Donald Trump's remarks on Monday.

The American president had once again stated that he was "open" to discussion with Tehran.

"The failing Iranian nation wants to make a deal, quickly and desperately. I will decide whether the United States chooses to engage — an idea to which we remain open," Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Tehran demands that Washington put a definitive end to the war and to any aggression against Iran and its allies in the region, including Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Iranian government is also demanding the lifting of the blockade imposed on its ports, full compensation for the damage caused by the war, the lifting of sanctions against its economy, and the unconditional release of its assets frozen abroad.

The United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, arguing that its nuclear program represented an imminent threat.

In retaliation, the country has conducted strikes throughout the Middle East, saying it is targeting American bases and interests and any target presented as having been used to attack its territory.

Iran has been blocking the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a situation that is causing oil prices to surge and weighing on the global economy.
