L'UE convoque l'ambassadeur du Burkina Faso après l'expulsion de deux diplomates
The European Union announced on Thursday that it had summoned the Burkina Faso ambassador in Brussels, following the expulsion, "without explanation", of two of its diplomats in Ouagadougou.
"The EU strongly protests against Burkina Faso's unjustified decision to expel two diplomats from the EU delegation, for which we have received no explanation," said EU diplomatic service spokeswoman Anitta Hipper on X.
The ambassador of this small West African country, which recently severed diplomatic ties with France, has been summoned, and "response measures will follow," she added.
On June 26, Burkina Faso, led by a junta openly hostile to France, announced the severing of its diplomatic relations with Paris. At the beginning of July, all French diplomats had left Ouagadougou, and their Burkinabé counterparts had until July 6 to depart from France.
The twelve Burkinabe diplomats who were stationed in Paris have since returned to Ouagadougou.
