Quatre morts dans un accident d'hélicoptère à Rio, dont trois touristes colombiennes (médias)
A helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday left four people dead, according to firefighters, while several Brazilian media outlets reported that three of the victims were Colombian tourists.
The helicopter crashed in Tijuca National Park, which is home to a very dense forest on the mountainside.
Firefighters confirmed that the pilot and three women were "burned to a crisp" and released images showing the aircraft in flames in the middle of a forest, on steep and difficult-to-access terrain.
A police source told AFP that the victims had not yet been officially identified, but several local media reported that the passengers were Colombian tourists.
According to the news site G1, all three are from the same family.
The accident occurred near Vista Chinesa, a monument replicating a Chinese pagoda, very popular with tourists because it offers a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro from a vantage point high in the heart of the forest. It is featured in the animated film Rio (2011).
In June, a collision of two helicopters in Rio left six dead, including the famous American singer Oliver Tree and the Argentinian YouTuber Gaspar Prim.
Rio Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere stated on the social network X that he had asked Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency to take immediate measures to intensify surveillance and guarantee the safety of helicopter flights, the frequency of which continues to increase in this highly touristic metropolis.
