Syrie: attentats à la bombe près de l'hôtel de Damas où Macron a passé la nuit (source de sécurité à l'AFP)
Two bomb attacks occurred Tuesday morning near the hotel where French President Emmanuel Macron spent the night in central Damascus, a Syrian security source told AFP.
The French presidency confirmed that the head of state is safe and sound and his visit is continuing.
One of the bombs was placed in a garbage bin and the other in a vehicle near the Four Seasons hotel, the security source detailed.
The French leader had already left the establishment to go to the presidential palace, where he is currently holding talks with his counterpart Ahmad al-Chareh, according to an AFP team on the scene.
AFP journalists saw windows of the Ministry of Tourism, which faces the luxurious Four Seasons hotel, shattered by the explosions.
Security forces have deployed in force to the scene, towards which ambulances have converged, and are prohibiting access to journalists.
