Two American media groups challenged in court on Wednesday the sale of priority access to President Donald Trump's publications on his Truth Social network, which often generate market movements.

The complaint, filed in New York by The Intercept and Freedom of the Press Foundation, alleges that this mechanism is "corrupt and unconstitutional".

Subscribers to this service are supposed to have near-instant access to Mr. Trump's messages on Truth Social, a few crucial seconds before the general public.

According to the complaint, they must pay up to $100,000 per month for this.

The Republican billionaire often uses his platform for major political announcements, from the latest developments in the war against Iran to new tariffs, which can cause markets to plummet or soar.

"This system is deeply corrupt. The president is in a position to profit financially by delivering market-moving government information to those who are able to pay his own company," the complaint states.

Trump Media and Technology Group has dismissed concerns about this product, called Truth API and unveiled in mid-July.
