A homeless woman held captive, raped and tortured for months

Lured into a house with the promise of food and shelter, a 33-year-old German woman reportedly endured months of torment. She was rescued thanks to a neighbor.

A case of extreme violence has shocked Germany. A 33-year-old homeless woman was allegedly held captive, raped, and tortured for several months in a house in Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia. Four men are scheduled to go on trial starting in October, according to the regional public broadcaster WDR.

According to the prosecutor's office, the victim was allegedly lured in July 2025 with the promise of a meal and accommodation. Once there, she was allegedly held against her will, regularly beaten, raped, and humiliated.

Her ordeal ended almost by chance on November 3, 2025. An 18-year-old neighbor spotted a woman handcuffed on a terrace, tied to a beam with a bicycle lock. Unable to put her feet on the ground, she had numerous facial injuries. The young man immediately alerted the police.

When emergency services arrived, the victim was also suffering from severe hypothermia, having spent several hours outdoors in winter temperatures. Hospitalized, she presented with significant physical and psychological aftereffects.

Investigators have charged four Germans, including two minors. The main suspect, a 29-year-old man already known to police, is among those remanded in custody. His partner, who was in the house with their children at the time of the raid, has not been charged.

According to the newspaper "Bild," the neighbor who raised the alarm had already seen the victim a few days earlier. He had, however, believed that the visible injuries on his face were part of a Halloween costume. It was only after his rescue that he realized the horror of the situation.
