Affaire des 2 milliards FCFA destinés à Abdoulaye Wade : Le tribunal a tranché entre Samuel Sarr et Cheikh Amar !
The Dakar Criminal Court delivered its verdict on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in the case opposing former Minister of Energy, Samuel Sarr, to businessman Cheikh Amadou Amar, putting an end to several years of legal proceedings.
In this case, Cheikh Amar filed a complaint against Samuel Sarr for breach of trust on October 15, 2021. The businessman claimed to have given the former minister 2 billion CFA francs, which he said was intended to be given to former President Abdoulaye Wade on his behalf. He accused Samuel Sarr of never providing him with receipts confirming the actual transfer of the funds to Mr. Wade.
In response, Samuel Sarr, who had vigorously contested the facts from the beginning, counter-attacked by suing Cheikh Amar for forgery and use of forged documents in commercial or banking matters.
In its ruling issued this Thursday, the court acquitted Samuel Sarr outright. The judge also dismissed Cheikh Amadou Amar's claim for damages, deeming it unfounded.
Furthermore, the counterclaims filed by Samuel Sarr against his accuser were also rejected by the court.
