Assassinat à Mbour : un motocycliste exécuté puis abandonné en pleine brousse, trois auteurs présumés arrêtés par la BR de Saly
A criminal case landed on the desk of Prosecutor Augustin Yakhar Faye, head of the Petite-Côte prosecutor's office, on Friday, July 10, 2026. The Saly Research Brigade (BR), under the Mbour gendarmerie company, brought three suspects before the magistrate, charged with criminal conspiracy, premeditated murder, and aggravated robbery, according to exclusive information obtained by Seneweb. Abdoulaye Diouf, Ibrahima Diallo, and Aliou Lo are accused of ambushing a motorcycle taxi driver, Omar Faye, before strangling him and stealing his vehicle.
On the evening of July 3, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Sandiara local police station alerted the Saly police station to the discovery of a body in the bush, along the road leading to the village of Louly. The gendarmes dispatched to the scene found the remains of a man lying on the ground, a rope tied around his neck. The body, formally identified by the family as that of Omar Faye, was released to his relatives for burial, while an investigation was immediately launched to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
The trap set for the victim
The investigation allowed investigators to reconstruct the gang's modus operandi. That same evening, Abdoulaye Diouf, Ibrahima Diallo, and Aliou Lo met at their usual meeting place to carry out a motorcycle theft.
Abdoulaye Diouf, who knew Omar Faye personally and was aware that he had recently acquired a new vehicle, identified his victim. He then contacted the driver to order a ride to the village of Louly, specifying that there would be three passengers. He met him at his usual parking spot, the "Jakarta" bus stop, before driving him to his two accomplices. The fare was set at 3,000 CFA francs, and the four men set off.
The execution in the bush
Upon arriving in a remote area on the road between the villages of Louly and Kibik, the three suspects carried out their attack: a rope was used to strangle Omar Faye, who died at the scene. The perpetrators seized his motorcycle before fleeing towards the town. They then went to the home of Ibrahima Diallo, a mechanic by trade, who completely dismantled the motorcycle to conceal its origin before handing it over to Aliou Lo.
The thread that led to the arrest
Analysis of the victim's phone revealed that his last call came from number 78, belonging to Abdoulaye Diouf. A neighborhood canvass conducted at the "Jakarta" bus stop also yielded a statement from a man named GS, who claimed to have seen Diouf discussing transportation with the victim on the evening of the incident. Arrested during a raid at his home, Abdoulaye Diouf initially denied any involvement before confessing to the crime when confronted with the corroborating evidence gathered by investigators. He then identified his two accomplices, Ibrahima Diallo and Aliou Lo, who were subsequently arrested. The victim's motorcycle was found in Aliou Lo's possession and seized for the purposes of the investigation.
The confessions are consistent, with some discrepancies.
During his hearing, Abdoulaye Diouf stated that the idea for the robbery came from Aliou Lo, who allegedly identified the victim and organized the trip to Louly. He admitted to lending his phone to contact Omar Faye and accompanying the group to the location, but blamed the strangulation on Aliou Lo and the motorcycle theft on Ibrahima Diallo. He admitted to helping transport the motorcycle, reselling the victim's phone for 5,000 CFA francs, and receiving 50,000 CFA francs from the sale of the motorcycle.
Ibrahima Diallo, for his part, admits to having joined the project in order to share in the profits. He acknowledges having taken possession of the motorcycle after the attack, dismantling it at his home to facilitate its concealment, and selling the fairings to a certain CS for 30,000 CFA francs. However, he denies any direct involvement in the strangulation, which he attributes solely to Aliou Lo.
Aliou Lo initially denied any involvement, claiming he had simply bought the motorcycle from Ibrahima Diallo without knowing its fraudulent origin. Confronted with the consistent statements of his co-defendants, he eventually admitted to assembling the group for the purpose of the theft, personally strangling Omar Faye with a rope, and then retrieving the dismantled motorcycle parts to organize their resale and the division of the proceeds among the participants.
The testimonies that incriminate the group
Witness AD confirmed that he had held 150,000 CFA francs at Aliou Lo's request, before returning it to him on July 3rd around 10 PM after withdrawing it via a Wave account. He stated that he had never seen the motorcycle nor met the two other individuals involved.
Even more damning, GS formally identified Abdoulaye Diouf as the perpetrator of a previous attack using the same modus operandi. He recounted that, the day before Tabaski, Diouf had lured him to Keur Balla under the pretext of running an errand, before threatening him with a knife and an accomplice to steal his phone, money, and motorcycle. He only recovered his motorcycle the following day.
During the investigation, the gendarmes seized the rope used for strangulation, which was placed under seal, as well as the two motorcycles found in the suspects' possession. The serious and consistent evidence gathered—confessions, witness statements, phone records, confrontations, and a reconstruction of the events—led to the prosecution of these three suspects for conspiracy, premeditated murder, and aggravated robbery, offenses stipulated and punishable under Articles 238, 295, and 367 of the Penal Code, according to our sources close to the court. They were brought before the public prosecutor at the Mbour High Court on Friday.
The National Gendarmerie, under the command of General Martin Faye, is demonstrating its determination to fight crime in all its forms. It intends to track down criminals to their last hideouts so that they can be brought to justice for their crimes.
