Mbour : la Sûreté urbaine stoppe les agissements d'un présumé escroc au visa
A promised visa, never issued, and an advance payment gone. The Urban Security Unit of the Central Police Station of Mbour brought the individual named MN before Prosecutor Augustin Yakhar Faye, head of the Petite-Côte prosecutor's office, yesterday, Monday, July 14, 2026, for visa fraud involving the sum of one million one hundred and fifty thousand (1,150,000) CFA francs, according to Seneweb sources.
It all started with a complaint filed by Mr. ABN. In 2025, he wanted to send his son to Spain. Along the way, he encountered MN, who presented himself as a travel agent and offered his services. The two men reached an agreement: for 4,500,000 CFA francs, MN committed to obtaining the visa by March 2026 at the latest. As a sign of trust, ABN paid him an advance of 1,150,000 CFA francs on November 4, 2025, against a receipt.
March 2026 arrives, but no visa. Worse, MN makes numerous appointments which he never shows up for, leaving the complainant without answers.
ABN then decided to set a trap alongside the police officers of the Mbour Urban Security Research Brigade. The sting worked: MN was arrested on July 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM. Taken to the police station, he readily confessed to the crime during his interrogation. Placed in police custody, he was brought before the prosecutor the following day.
