« Tu peux trahir Ousmane Sonko mais... » : l'auteur des menaces contre la famille de Diomaye Faye condamné
The Dakar Magistrates' Court delivered its verdict this Tuesday in the Babacar Ndiaye case. The 29-year-old shopkeeper, residing in Pikine Guinaw Rail, was found guilty of insulting the head of state, disseminating defamatory remarks, inciting a crime, and making targeted death threats. He was sentenced to two months in prison and fined 50,000 CFA francs.
Libération, which is reporting the story, recalls the extremely serious remarks made in a viral video targeting the President of the Republic and his inner circle: “Diomaye, you can betray Ousmane Sonko, but the day we touch a patriot; the day you imprison patriots or kill people, your father is in Ndiaganiao, your mother in Ndiaganiao, your family in Ndiaganiao. By God, if you do what Macky Sall did, we will go to Ndiaganiao. If we kill a patriot, we will kill one of your relatives.”
Identified and apprehended by the Dakar Research Section (SR), Babacar Ndiaye admitted to making the recording during his interrogation. In his defense, he quickly added, "I was drunk. I wasn't thinking straight," before apologizing to the Head of State and his family. This line of defense did not prevent the judge from handing down a prison sentence.
