"Le week-end s’annonce pluvieux" : L'Anacim annonce la couleur et appelle à une vigilance accrue sur Dakar
Last weekend was extremely rainy. The coming weekend is also likely to follow the same pattern. The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) is forecasting an intensification of rain and thunderstorm activity. Their bulletin is below.
"WEATHER ADVISORY UPDATE"
From October 10 to 12, 2026
The weekend is shaping up to be rainy! Rain and thunderstorm activity is expected to intensify in several regions of Senegal, with rainfall ranging from moderate to heavy.
MOST AFFECTED REGIONS
Casamance (Ziguinchor, Sédhiou and Kolda), the Saloum Islands, Fatick, Kaolack, Mbour, Thiès, Diourbel and Dakar.
DAKAR: INCREASED VIGILANCE!
Given the recent rainfall totals, particular vigilance is still recommended in the face of risks associated with moderate to heavy rain.
AND IN OTHER REGIONS?
Rain, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, is also expected, generally light to moderate, but potentially heavy in some areas. Podor, Matam, and Bakel should be relatively less affected, though not entirely spared.
SEA USERS: STAY CAREFUL!
Thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible along the coast. Fishermen and other sea users are urged to exercise extra caution and check weather updates before heading out to sea.
