President Bassirou Diomaye Faye reacted with deep emotion to the passing of the illustrious writer and former minister Cheikh Hamidou Kane. In a message posted on his social media accounts, the President paid tribute to a giant of African literature: “It is with profound sadness that I learned of the passing of Cheikh Hamidou Kane. With Ambiguous Adventure , he gave generations of Africans the words to grapple with a question that still resonates with us today: how to embrace the world's knowledge without losing any of our identity.” Also highlighting his career as a statesman, President Faye noted that as a “minister of the Republic, he also served Senegal with dedication,” affirming that his work “now belongs to the heritage of our nation and all of Africa,” before offering his deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and the literary community.
