Ndiassane : Décès de Serigne Bouh Mouhamed Kounta dit Bouh Khalifa, conseiller spécial du Khalife pour les affaires religieuses
The passing of Serigne Bouh Mouhamed Kounta, known as Bouh Khalifa, special advisor to the general Khalif of Akh Loul Kountiyyou for religious affairs, during the night of Saturday to Sunday, October 4, 2026, has plunged the Ummah, in particular the religious city of Ndiassane, and therefore the Khadiriyya community, into sadness and consternation.
Sources reveal that the special advisor to the Caliph General of Ndiassane, described as a "religious guide dedicated to peace and dialogue," had been ill since the Gamou, celebrated on September 1st. He was buried this Sunday in Ndankh, the birthplace of the Khadra Kountiyou in Senegal.
Affectionately known as Bouh Khalifa, this well-known figure on the Senegalese religious scene embodied a generation of open, committed religious leaders deeply rooted in the values of Islam, peace, and tolerance.
As the representative of the General Khalif of the Khadres in the department of Guédiawaye, in addition to being his special advisor for external affairs, the late guide was also the moral leader of the Dahira Xam Sa Diné of the Cité Fadia in Dakar, a neighborhood where he had been providing religious instruction focused on knowledge, education and citizenship for years.
His commitment goes far beyond the Khadria brotherhood. As Vice-President of the Unified Framework of Islam in Senegal (CUDIS), he has worked tirelessly for the unity of Muslims and the pooling of efforts for the development of the country.
A man of dialogue par excellence, he presided over the Senegalese Interreligious Council for Peace, a leading organization that promotes peaceful coexistence among the country's various religious communities. His expertise and moral integrity led to his appointment as head of the National Commission for Consultation on the Lunar Crescent (CONACOC), a crucial body that determines the major dates of the Muslim calendar in Senegal. He always carried out this weighty responsibility with wisdom and a commitment to collaboration.
His influence extends to the continental level as a member of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulemas, a prestigious institution that works for the dissemination of a moderate Islam and the training of African ulemas.
Between sermons, social mediation and religious diplomacy, Serigne Bou Mouhamed Kounta, known as Bouh Khalifa, had established himself as a bridge between generations, religions and nations, serving an Islam of light and a Senegal of peace.
