Abdou Karim Fofana charge Ousmane Sonko et Pastef : « Ils ont dénaturé le mot patriotisme »
Former minister Abdou Karim Fofana has launched a scathing attack on Ousmane Sonko and the Pastef party. In a post on X, he denounces their concept of patriotism and accuses them of having contributed to weakening the economic and socio-political foundations of Senegal.
Abdou Karim Fofana is raising his voice against Ousmane Sonko and the Pastef party. The former minister believes that the word "patriotism" has lost its meaning in Senegal since the new regime came to power.
“Ousmane Sonko and Pastef have distorted the meaning of the word ‘patriot’ in Senegal,” he writes. According to him, through their appearances on the program “Wax Sa Xalaat,” this term is now associated with obstruction, destruction, and incompetence.
To support his criticisms, Abdou Karim Fofana cites the rejection of the 2026 supplementary budget law (LFR), in a context marked by the debt crisis. He also mentions the downgrade of Senegal's sovereign rating by Moody's, lowered to Ca, as well as what he considers to be weakened relations with financial partners.
He also warns of difficulties related to the settlement of domestic debt, which he believes is compromised before the end of the year.
Finally, the former minister addressed the family security grants, the payment of which, according to his projections, could be delayed. "The family security grants will have to wait. We warned you," he concluded.
Ousmane Sonko and Pastef have distorted the meaning of the word "patriot" in Senegal. Listening to the participants of "Wax Sa Xalaat," it now resonates as a synonym for obstruction, destruction, and incompetence. Since 2024, their patriotism has been limited to undermining the country's socio-political foundations. Now they are attacking our economy: the 2026 Finance Law was rejected in the midst of the debt crisis, our sovereign rating was downgraded to a Ca by Moody's, relations with our financial partners have been weakened, and the settlement of the domestic debt is jeopardized by the end of the year. Family security grants will have to wait. We warned you.
