Moussa Tine, (FDR) : « Ousmane Sonko a-t-il provoqué son limogeage pour fuir ses responsabilités ?»
The Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR) held a press conference this Wednesday, the day after Prime Minister Amadou Al Aminou Lo delivered his General Policy Statement to the National Assembly. During this meeting, the opposition coalition questioned the circumstances surrounding Ousmane Sonko's departure from office as head of government, before highlighting the economic legacy left to his successor.
“When I listened to the Prime Minister, I wondered whether Ousmane Sonko had deliberately provoked his dismissal to evade his responsibilities, because the situation was dramatic and he certainly had no solution to offer the Senegalese,” said Moussa Tine, president and founder of the center-left party Alliance démocratique Péncóo, alongside Modou Diagne Fada and Abdou Mbow.
For members of the FDR, the change of head of government cannot absolve the previous team of its record. "The truth is that Senegal is not functioning. The record presented yesterday is that of the two years of Pastef governance, of the outgoing Prime Minister, quite seriously," he accuses.
Criticizing the executive branch's strategic choices, the FDR also condemned the doctrinal line defended since the change of government. For Moussa Tine, the country cannot recover without the effective mobilization of international partnerships and funding. According to him, mere declarations of intent must cease.
“Sovereignty means nothing. The proof, moreover, is Marine Le Pen’s doctrine in France. Pastef defends this same doctrine. Today, no one can live in isolation. We are obliged to capture international resources, and moreover, it is the ability to capture these resources that will drive development,” he says.
Before continuing, he added: "We're not dealing with ideology, we're not talking about political speeches, we're not talking about declarations of intent. What the Senegalese people want is simply to live. They want the means to achieve a better standard of living."
