Perte de 33 milliards FCFA sur Yakaar-Teranga : « Par incompétence ou contrepartie ? » charge TAS
MP Thierno Alassane Sall (TAS) reacted strongly to the statements made by the Head of Government during his General Policy Statement (DPG) regarding the management of the Yakaar-Teranga oil and gas project. According to the MP, Prime Minister Ahmadou Alhaminou Lô's revelations cast serious doubt on the incompetence or dishonesty of his predecessor, Ousmane Sonko, as well as on the previous ministerial team in charge of the sector.
“During the DPG, the Prime Minister informed, with many innuendos, that the State of Senegal had lost 55 million dollars (nearly 33 billion FCFA) following the hasty withdrawal of the Yakaar-Teranga permit. He stated that if the previous government had waited three more months without forcibly reclaiming the permit, Senegal would have been within its rights to demand that Kosmos Energy pay fines and penalties for failing to fulfill its development obligations,” recalled the leader of the Republic of Values.
According to the MP, the remarks of the head of the Executive unambiguously target the former Prime Minister and his Minister of Petroleum, implying that they caused the public treasury to lose a significant financial windfall through their haste.
"Whether through incompetence or deliberately? And in that case, what were the benefits?", Thierno Alassane Sall openly asks, demanding full transparency regarding the motives and repercussions of this state decision.
