Pouvoir d’achat, tensions politiques : Oumar Youm interpelle le régime Diomaye-Sonko
The mayor of Thiadiaye, Oumar Youm, strongly challenged the current authorities on the economic and social situation of the country, calling on them to be more concerned about the daily difficulties of Senegalese people rather than getting bogged down in political disputes.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Thiadiaye Mayor's Cup final, the former minister stated: "I think they are much better informed than everyone else. For the past two years, I think the state has been at a standstill. It's not working. There are many controversies within the Diomaye-Sonko regime. This is evident today in the exchanges between the executive and legislative branches."
For Oumar Youm, the erosion of purchasing power, the rise in energy costs, and difficulties accessing healthcare are major concerns today. He therefore calls on the government to "become more involved in meeting the needs of the population," instead of "squabbling" and "passing the buck between the executive and legislative branches."
“People are tired. Purchasing power is eroding, energy prices are rising, and the cost is no longer affordable. Healthcare is very difficult to access today. There are many problems,” he lamented.
Support for Abdou Mbow and the opposition MPs
The mayor of Thiadiaye also reiterated his support for MP Abdou Mbow and, more broadly, for opposition parliamentarians whom he believes are regularly targeted in the exercise of their mandate.
"They are heckled, they are threatened, they are jostled," he denounced, recalling that, according to him, these incidents are not new and date back to 2022.
Oumar Youm indicated that the complaint announced after the attack on Abdou Mbow had been filed and that a team of lawyers had been assembled. He is now calling on the relevant authorities to shed light on this case and determine who is responsible.
“The inviolability of the mandate and the protection of the humility of the member of parliament stop at the chamber, not outside the chamber. And that does not give a license to do whatever one wants. I think the State must understand this. The Minister of the Interior is being called upon, the Minister of Justice is being called upon, the President of the Republic is being called upon so that justice is done on behalf of Abdou Mbow,” he insisted.
130 million to rehabilitate the stadium
On the local level, Oumar Youm took advantage of the Mayor's Cup final to announce investments in Thiadiaye's sports infrastructure.
According to him, 130 million CFA francs will be allocated this year for the renovation of the municipal stadium, including the floodlights and changing rooms. The goal is to bring the infrastructure up to standard and provide better conditions for young athletes.
The mayor also announced that by 2027, the stadium should have a pitch, thanks to discussions undertaken with partners.
"In 2027, it will be a stadium with all the amenities," he promised, believing that the youth of Thiadiaye, renowned for their discipline, courtesy and bravery, "deserve all our attention."
The Mayor's Cup final was therefore intended to be a true celebration of youth, with an envelope of one million CFA francs for the winner and 500,000 CFA francs for the finalist team, as well as equipment given to the participating ASCs.

Quand à Sonko c’est un opposant qui a l’assemblée nationale et qui ne s’oppose pas mais s’il veut devenir président il doit respecter la confiance de la majorité des sénégalais s’opposer et faire tous les gouvernements de Diomay .
Dans tous les cas en decembre Diomay va dissoudre l’assemblée et espère avec l’apr avoir la majorité
