It should be noted that the president is elected for the duration of the legislative term.
The National Assembly opened its single ordinary session for the 2026-2027 parliamentary term. At the opening of the session, the Bureau noted the presence of 140 of the 165 registered members. As a quorum was reached, the session was declared open in accordance with Bureau Order No. 236 of September 29, 2026. The session was marked by the renewal of the Bureau members, in accordance with the provisions of the Rules of Procedure. Article 18 specifies that the Speaker of the National Assembly is elected for the duration of the legislature, while the other members of the Bureau are elected for a one-year term, renewable.
For the vice-presidential positions, the PASTEF-Les Patriotes parliamentary group presented seven candidates, while Takku Wallu Sénégal proposed one candidate for the eighth position. At the end of the vote, the candidates received 135 votes, with two abstentions and no votes against. The eight elected vice-presidents are:
First Vice-President: Malick Ndiaye
Second Vice-President: Rocky Ndiaye

Third Vice-President: Ismaïla Diallo
Fourth Vice-President: Mbène Faye
Fifth Vice President: Samba Dang
Sixth Vice-President: Oulimata Sidibé
Seventh Vice-President: Amadou Ba
Eighth vice-president: Racky Diallo, nominated by Takku Wallu Senegal.
Maïmouna Bousso and Bakary Diédhiou were declared elected secretaries. Aïcha Touré and Mohamed Sall were elected treasurers.
Following the renewal of the Bureau, the next step is to establish the various committees of the National Assembly. The presiding officer asked the chairs of the parliamentary groups and the independent members to submit, before the next plenary session scheduled for Friday the 16th, the lists of members proposed to serve on the different committees. In accordance with Article 36, paragraph 2, of the Rules of Procedure, each standing committee has 35 members. Specific provisions apply to certain bodies, notably the Accounting and Audit Committee and the Delegations Committee, which each have 20 members. The Finance and Budgetary Control Committee, for its part, is subject to a specific rule regarding the participation of the chairs of the standing committees. The ratification of the committee compositions thus constitutes the next step in organizing parliamentary work for the 2026-2027 session.
