Dengue à Thiadiaye : Des gîtes larvaires positifs découverts, une riposte sanitaire annoncée
An epidemiological investigation was conducted in the Thiadiaye health district following the detection of a dengue case. The objective is to identify the factors contributing to the spread of the disease and to prevent the emergence of new cases.
Accompanied by officers from the local hygiene unit, the investigation team visited the index case's home to inspect the immediate environment and search for potential breeding sites of the mosquito vector. The field investigations revealed several positive larval sites, indicating conditions favorable to the multiplication of Aedes aegypti, the primary mosquito vector of dengue fever.
In response to these findings, a series of control measures are planned in the affected village. These measures include indoor residual spraying (IRS), dusting of targeted areas, elimination and treatment of identified breeding sites, and sanitation of the areas surrounding homes.
An awareness campaign will also be conducted among the population to strengthen prevention measures and encourage behaviors that limit the proliferation of mosquitoes.
Through this intervention, health authorities intend to contain the risk of dengue spreading and strengthen community vigilance against this mosquito-borne disease.
