The Diourbel central police station's urban security unit brought four firefighters before Prosecutor Amary Faye, head of the public prosecutor's office at the city's high court, on Wednesday. One of them is being prosecuted for possession and use of marijuana, while the other three are charged with resisting arrest and assaulting an officer in the performance of his duties.

According to exclusive information from Seneweb, the four suspects were brought back before the prosecutor's office on Wednesday. This means that after appearing before the prosecutor, they were returned to the disposal of investigators until tomorrow.

An arrest not far from the police station, resistance and violence

It all started when a police officer spotted four individuals in civilian clothes, one of whom was in possession of marijuana, a few meters from the central police station in Diourbel. The officer apprehended the suspect in possession of the drugs and took him to the police station.

But the three other firefighters fiercely resisted their colleague's arrest. It was in these circumstances that the police officer was subdued and injured in a sensitive area. Despite the prompt intervention of his colleagues from the police station, he was admitted to the hospital's emergency room, according to Seneweb sources.

Three of the four firefighters were arrested at the Diourbel 22nd Fire and Rescue Company headquarters, where they had sought refuge, and placed in police custody. The police officer was released with a medical certificate attesting to a five-day period of incapacity for work.

Des militaires qui fument le chanvre en pleine rue. Il faut revoir la discipline dans les casernes , et des hommes de tenue en règle générale . J’espère qu’ils seront sanctionnés et radiés de ce corps tant respecté
