Astou Pierre Ndiaye: Diary of a Return to the Homeland of the Alleged Killer

Astou Pierre Ndiaye : cahier d’un retour au pays du tueur présumé

Alioune Badara Gaye, 39, implicated in the acid attack on Astou Pierre Ndiaye, is currently in police custody at the Dieuppeul police station. He was repatriated to Senegal on November 2nd, after his arrest in Mauritania where he had sought refuge following the events.

How did he end up in the hands of the Senegalese police? It all started with the death of Astou Pierre Ndiaye, which occurred on October 1, 2026, at the Fann University Hospital Center. The victim succumbed to burns caused by the corrosive product, the newspaper explains.

According to testimonies gathered during the investigation, her ex-boyfriend Alioune Badara Gaye allegedly "poured acid on her following their romantic breakup" before fleeing to Mauritania.

On October 20, Libération reports, the Dieuppeul district police station contacted the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) in Dakar to request his arrest. The NCB immediately sought the cooperation of its counterpart in Nouakchott.

The operation concluded on October 30th. The suspect "was apprehended by the Mauritanian judicial police's research brigade in Nouakchott-West".

With the prior agreement of the Senegalese Attorney General's office, a simplified police-to-police handover procedure was then initiated and accepted by the Mauritanian authorities.

On November 2nd, a team from Interpol's Central National Bureau (CNB) in Dakar traveled to Rosso. The suspect was thus "recovered" following a handover that took place without incident.

Transported to Dakar the same day, Alioune Badara Gaye was finally handed over to the Dieuppeul police station, where he is now being questioned under the regime of police custody.
