The baptism ceremony of the daughter of General de Bamba, Cheikh Ahmadou Kara Mbacké Noreyni, which was originally scheduled for yesterday, and the important declaration that was to be made there, have been postponed to a later date.
Indeed, on Wednesday evening, it was announced that the religious leader better known as Serigne Modou Kara Mbacké was to hold "an important statement this Friday, September 25 at 5 p.m., in Mamelles", in front of the national and international press.
The meeting was to take place on the occasion of his daughter's baptism, a ceremony during which General de Bamba was also to reveal the "exceptional name" chosen for the child.
However, in a statement released yesterday, the Office of the Guide Cheikh Ahmadou Kara Mbacké Noreyni announced that "the special baptism ceremony scheduled for this Friday, September 25, 2026, as well as the special speech by the Guide and the statement from the Office announced for 5 p.m., are cancelled."
"This meeting is not cancelled: it is postponed to a later date, which will be communicated to you in due course," said the strategic communications advisor to the guide's office and press and media relations focal point, Sheikh Ahmed Tidiane Ly.
While specifying that "the new date will be communicated exclusively by the Cabinet's press focal point. Only communications bearing the reference and stamp of the Cabinet are binding on the Guide."
