Diamaguène Sicap Mbao : deux voleurs dérobent des ustensiles de cuisine, l’un d’eux viole le garçon de 15 ans trouvé dans l’appartement
Double punishment. F. Sylla, a resident of the "Biafra" neighborhood, filed a complaint with the Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao police station for theft and rape. According to his account, reported by Libération, two individuals broke into his home on Monday night.
The nighttime visitors allegedly stole kitchen utensils, wigs, and a gas cylinder. But instead of being satisfied with this loot, one of them decided to satisfy his sexual desires on Mr. Sylla, the complainant's 15-year-old nephew, who was sleeping alone in the apartment at the time.
Baye D. has been identified by investigators as the alleged perpetrator of the rape. Libération reports that he assaulted his victim by threatening her with a knife while his accomplice, Maurice N., acted as a lookout.
Twenty-four hours after the complaint, the newspaper continues, Mr. Sylla "randomly" encountered one of the thieves in the neighborhood. He alerted his uncle, who informed the police.
"A mission was successfully carried out, leading to the arrest of Baye D., at whose home some of the stolen items were found. When questioned, he admitted to the theft but denied raping Mr. Sylla," reports Libération.
Maurice N., betrayed by his partner, was later arrested. He confessed, but claimed to have known nothing of the alleged rape, swearing that "he was keeping watch outside the door" before entering the apartment a few minutes later to commit the robbery.
The stolen items were recovered, except for the gas cylinder. "The two suspects stated that they had hidden it on the roof of a shack and had not subsequently found it," reports Libération.
The same source indicates that while awaiting the conclusions of the required medical expertise, Baye D. is placed in custody for rape, in addition to the charges against his accomplice: criminal association, and robbery committed at night with breaking and entering.
