Diofior : une fabrique clandestine de crème glacée démantelée, trois personnes interpellées
An illegal ice cream production unit was dismantled on Wednesday, September 23, in Diofior, in the Fatick department. The operation was carried out by the Diofior Hygiene Sub-Brigade, under the command of Warrant Officer Cheikh Tidiane Seck.
Alerted by a tip about an unsanitary, small-scale ice cream production operation, health inspectors went to the site. There, they discovered a makeshift factory run by a Malian national.
The findings of the officers are particularly alarming. The unit was operating without any administrative authorization, and the staff did not have medical certificates. Production took place directly on the ground, in an environment described as extremely unsanitary.
The inspectors also noted the use of raw materials of dubious origin and lacking traceability, as well as untested water in the preparation of the products. The ice cream was also stored in a manner that did not comply with cold chain regulations.
In addition, there is heavily rusted equipment and stagnant wastewater around the unit, posing significant health risks to consumers.
Following the operation, three individuals were arrested. They were taken into custody at the Fimela gendarmerie brigade for questioning.
