Fermeture des mini-forages par le sous-préfet de Ndiédieng : Guy Marius Sagna dénonce et saisit le gouvernement
Tensions are rising in the Kaolack region. The sub-prefect of Ndiédieng announced a few days ago the closure of mini-boreholes built by residents of several villages in the municipalities of Keur Socé and Ndiédieng. This decision has been strongly contested and denounced by Member of Parliament Guy Marius Sagna.
In a scathing statement on his social media platforms, the MP asks: "Is the sub-prefect of Ndiédieng in Flexeau's pocket, or is the Senegalese government in the pocket of those relentlessly profit-seeking in the water sector?"
According to the parliamentarian, these villages (Gniline Goumack, Daga Sambou, Ndiouffène Prethi, Kouthièye, Mbouma, Thiarène...) experienced more than six months without water in 2024 because, he says, of "shortcomings of Flexeau", the company in charge of management.
Traumatized by this water insecurity, the population took matters into their own hands by installing mini-boreholes to ensure their water supply. It is precisely these installations that the administrative authorities now want to close.
In his statement, the parliamentarian expressed his full support for the people: "The people are opposed to these closures. They have my full support." The MP announced that he had sent a written question to the government, which he accused of "supporting the interests of failing private groups at the expense of more effective grassroots initiatives."
He also announced the upcoming launch of a "Dox Ndox" campaign to reach out to populations facing water access problems across the country.
