Gamou de Chérif Omar Aidara : Plaidoyer pour une meilleure mobilité des pèlerins
Gamou of Chérif Omar Aidara: A plea for improved mobility for pilgrims
With the annual Gamou of Chérif Omar Aidara just days away, scheduled for September 28th in Sokone, preparations are intensifying. While organizers are announcing significant measures to accommodate the faithful, they are also raising concerns about the poor condition of the road leading to the religious site and the inadequate lighting in certain areas.
Preparations are well underway in Sokone, in the Foundiougne department, as the annual Gamou of Chérif Omar Aidara approaches. For this year's event, organizers are expecting a large turnout of faithful.
While significant efforts have been made to ensure the success of the event, particularly under the impetus of his son, Chérif Cheybani Ibn Chérif Omar Aidara, a major concern remains: the condition of the section leading to the religious site.
According to the organizing committee, this road is in an advanced state of disrepair, a situation that could complicate traffic and access for the thousands of pilgrims expected in Sokone during the Gamou.
A plea for sustainable rehabilitation
Faced with this situation, Chérif Cheybani Ibn Chérif Omar Aidara is calling for sustained intervention from the public authorities. The religious leader specifically wants the section of road to be improved, paved, or asphalted to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and ensure their safety.
"The rehabilitation of this route is an important issue for the reception of pilgrims," stresses the organizing committee, which calls on the relevant services to take the necessary measures.
Lighting, the other concern
In addition to the issue of road infrastructure, there is also the question of lighting. The organizers believe that insufficient lighting in certain areas is also a point of concern, particularly given the expected crowds and the nighttime movements of worshippers.
The religious leader is therefore calling on the services in charge of electrification to provide lasting solutions to this problem, in order to contribute to the safety of the pilgrims and the smooth running of the event.
The Gamou of Chérif Omar Aidara is a religious event of international significance. Every year, the event brings together many faithful from Mauritania, Morocco, Gambia and various localities in Senegal, as well as nationals residing in Europe.
With just a few days to go before this important religious gathering, the organizing committee wants to see concerns related to mobility and lighting taken into account, in order to allow the faithful to reach Sokone in better conditions and to experience the Gamou peacefully.
