The story has generated much discussion and debate. It has now taken a new turn. L'Observateur reports that the death toll from the tragedy in Touré Fass, in the commune of Darou Marnane, which occurred last Tuesday, has risen with the death of a third victim.
This was the second twin who, like his twin brother on the day of the incident, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday while under observation at Cheikhoul Khadim Hospital in Touba. However, as the newspaper of the Future Media Group points out, doctors had declared the child out of danger after admitting him.
The twins were stabbed to death by their mother, NF Dieng, last Tuesday in a bedroom of the family home in Touré Fass. Before attacking her own children, she had slit the throat of her co-wife's son, who was playing in the same room, before turning the knife on herself.
The first two victims who died were buried last Thursday while the third was brought to the ground this Sunday, according to L'Observateur.
The newspaper reports that NF Dieng, initially treated at Cheikhoul Khadim Hospital, has been transferred to a psychiatric facility in Dakar, under the supervision of the gendarmes in charge of the investigation. "Furthermore," the daily continues, "the theory of dementia is well established. However, the Darou Marnane gendarmerie has not yet made any decision regarding NF Dieng, especially since she has not yet been questioned by investigators. According to our source, this questioning will take place soon."
