Immeuble menaçant ruine à Guinaw-Rails : Un couple touché par la chute d'un acrotère, l'épouse décède à l'hôpital
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 4:30 a.m., the Guinaw-Rails district police station was informed of the collapse of a slab in a building in danger of collapse, located in the Mbaye Diaw neighborhood of Guinaw-Rails South. Part of the parapet wall landed on a couple's bedroom. The woman, M. Sarel, died from her injuries, according to Seneweb sources.
Police officers who arrived at the scene found that it was a two-story building in a state of disrepair. Part of the floor slab had collapsed onto a ground-floor bedroom, where three people were present: 26-year-old N. Diop, her 6-year-old daughter O. Thiam, and 17-year-old NA Fall. All three sustained minor injuries.
At the same time, part of the parapet of the same building broke away. It fell onto the adjoining house, built of asbestos cement, before landing on a bedroom occupied by butcher Y. Ba, 55, and his wife, Mariama S., 49. Firefighters evacuated the victims to the emergency room at Pikine Hospital.
But around 10:20 a.m., the police station was informed that Mariama S., admitted to the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Grand-Yoff, had succumbed to her injuries.
As part of the necessary procedures, the premises were evacuated on the instructions of the duly notified administrative and judicial authorities. An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the collapse and any potential liability.
