Kaffrine : un jeune condamné à deux ans de prison ferme pour trafic de drogue
The High Court of Kaffrine sentenced AN to two years in prison and a fine of 100,000 CFA francs for possession and offering of drugs, as well as for criminal association.
The defendant was apprehended in possession of eight Ecstasy pills and two packets of Indian hemp. In court, he admitted to the facts, explaining that he had received the pills from a certain S. Mbaye, with the aim of selling them on the market and making a financial profit.
During his hearing before the judges, AN attempted to justify his actions by citing the severe family and financial difficulties he was facing. According to his account, his secondhand clothing business was going through a rough patch, which he claimed had driven him to turn to drug trafficking to make ends meet.
Arguments that failed to convince the court. After deliberation, the court found him guilty on all charges and sentenced him to two years imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 FCFA.
