Kolda : interpellé avec 19 chèvres sous un pont, il affirme qu’elles appartiennent à sa famille
A case involving 19 goats has mobilized investigators at the Kolda central police station. A young man was arrested on September 19, 2026, while in possession of several animals on the outskirts of the city, under the bridge on the road leading to Ourossogui (Matam).
The events took place around 2 p.m. Alerted to the presence of an individual transporting several goats towards Ourossogui, members of the research brigade went to the scene to carry out the investigation.
On site, police arrested a young man who gave his identity as Seydou; nineteen goats were also found in his possession.
According to the statement of herder Y. Sow, his children, who were watching the animals in the pastures, alerted him to the presence of the suspect leading several goats towards Ourossogui. Accompanied by his colleagues, the herder then went to the location, where they apprehended the young man under the third bridge before alerting the central police station in Kolda.
When questioned about the ownership of the animals, the accused reportedly stated that the 19 goats belonged to his family.
He was eventually taken into custody for the alleged offenses. The public prosecutor's office was notified and an investigation was opened to determine the origin and true owner of the animals.
