Linguère : des hommes armés tendent un piège à un camion de « bana-bana »
On Monday evening, a truck transporting "bana-bana" traders was the target of an armed attack on the road linking Gassane to Linguère. A 20-year-old passenger was wounded in the shooting, reports L'Observateur.
Around 9 p.m., while returning from a weekly market, driver E. Diome encountered an "obstacle placed across the road," reports the daily newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM). Attempting to go around it, he was surprised by "five individuals, two of whom were heavily armed," who ordered him to stop the vehicle.
According to L'Observateur, this tactic was intended to force the driver to stop. He accelerated to escape the group, who then "opened fire on the truck." Projectiles grazed the head of a passenger. The driver nevertheless managed to lose the assailants.
Alerted, the Linguère gendarmerie brigade dispatched officers to the scene to search the area. The injured man was taken to Magatte Lô Hospital. GFM reports that an investigation has been launched to find the perpetrators, whose identities and the type of weapons used remain unknown.
