Linguère: Exit from prison, the driver confesses to stealing the Yango

Khadim G., already incarcerated in another case, was taken from his cell at the Linguère prison to be questioned in connection with the alleged theft of a Yango transport tricycle, reports L'Observateur. The investigation concerns events that occurred in December 2025, the same source recounts.

Daouda C., who wanted to invest in transport via Yango, had bought a tricycle for 1.5 million CFA francs, before adding a GPS device and two Samsung Galaxy A12 phones. His investment thus reached 1.83 million.

While looking for a driver, he was contacted by an individual calling himself Mamadou N. This man allegedly sent him, via WhatsApp, "copies of a national identity card and a driver's license" bearing that name. On December 20, Khadim G., "accompanied by an accomplice," went to collect the tricycle and the two phones.

Once in possession of the vehicle, he allegedly "deactivated the GPS and cut off all communication" while driving between the Medina and Colobane, before disappearing. The owner thus suffered a "loss of nearly 2 million," according to L'Observateur.

The suspect was already in custody for a similar case. Brought before the court by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), he had been sentenced to six months in prison by the Dakar High Court before being transferred to Linguère prison. It was from this prison that investigators had him brought to question him about the Yango case.

Married and a father of three, Khadim G. reportedly confessed to the crime and stated that he had "sold the tricycle to a friend living in Touba for 500,000 CFA francs." Following his interrogation, he was returned to police custody.

He is being prosecuted for conspiracy, fraud, forgery, and use of forged administrative documents. The investigation continues to recover the tricycle, identify the suspected accomplice, and apprehend the receiver of stolen goods, adds the newspaper from the Groupe Futurs Médias.
