Murder in Matam: the knife fight that cost Y. NDIAYE his life

Two young men reportedly injured each other with a knife on September 19, 2026, in the Nawel neighborhood. One of them died from his injuries. The second, identified as the suspected perpetrator, was taken into custody.

On September 19, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., the central police station in Matam received a phone call reporting a fight between two young people in the Nawel neighborhood.

According to information gathered by investigators, the two protagonists allegedly inflicted injuries on each other with a bladed weapon.

According to these reports, the two injured individuals were taken to the hospital by bystanders, without any police intervention at this stage. The same source indicates that one of them succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

An investigation was opened. It established the identities of the two protagonists.

The deceased: Y. NDIAYE, aged 34. He was a motorcycle driver in Jakarta and resided in Nawel.

The alleged perpetrator: IS DIALLO, born in 2001 in the Republic of Guinea, i.e. 25 years old. He claims to be a bricklayer and also resides in Nawel.

The second injured man was taken to the emergency room and then released.

IS DIALLO had been admitted to the emergency room of the Matam Regional Hospital. On the orders of the attending physician, he was released at 1:30 a.m.

Investigators questioned the doctor. According to the information gathered from him, the patient had four open wounds on his back, probably caused by a blunt object.

The fight reportedly took place a short distance from the neighborhood chief's home. The reasons for the confrontation remain unclear.

Following the advice of the Public Prosecutor's Office, IS DIALLO was taken into custody for the offenses described above. The investigation is ongoing to establish the origin of the dispute and the exact sequence of events.
