Nioro : la gendarmerie saisit plus d'un kilo de chanvre indien, un dealer arrêté
The Nioro territorial gendarmerie brigade, under the command of Chief Warrant Officer S. THIOR, proceeded this Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 8 p.m., to arrest a drug trafficker and seize narcotics in the village of Parka, commune of Darou Salam.
The operation followed a tip-off about the sale of marijuana in the village. To verify this information, the brigade commander and his men dispatched an emissary to make a test purchase worth 1,000 CFA francs. He returned with two packets of marijuana, thus confirming the trafficking.
Based on this information, a search was conducted at the home of Mr. F. MBOW. It led to the discovery and seizure of more than one kilogram of Indian hemp, as well as a KTM brand motorcycle.
The suspect has been taken into custody. At the conclusion of the investigation, he will be brought before the prosecutor's office in Kaolack.
The commander of the Nioro brigade intends to eradicate this new modus operandi, by which "Djakarta" motorcycle drivers engage in Indian hemp trafficking in the gendarmerie's area of jurisdiction.
