Thiès : 11 béliers volés au foirail de Hersent à cause d'un éclairage public défectueux
Eleven (11) rams were taken by criminals at the livestock market (Foirail/Daral) of Hersent, between the Ndiaw Macodou Diop racecourse and the Tropical GMI camp, on the road to Khombole, in the commune of Thiès-Est.
The victims of the theft, a group of livestock farmers, are denouncing "a lack of public lighting" at this cattle market, the largest unloading point in the Cité du Rail (Railway City). They deplore this "disastrous situation which makes it easy for criminals, who take advantage of the faulty lighting to commit their crimes at night."
"We pay for security and taxes to the town hall, but we still remain vulnerable due to insecurity caused in part by inadequate lighting," complain the herd owners.
Faced with this critical situation, the farmers are strongly appealing to the mayor of Thiès-Est, in this case the Minister of Livestock, Me Ousmane Diagne, to take responsibility.
They are not failing to seek the assistance of the Mayor of the City, Dr. Babacar Diop, so that their market is included in the public lighting program launched since his arrival at the head of the municipal institution.
The farmers find it "urgent" to take measures to secure the area and restore adequate lighting, in order to prevent further acts of delinquency and to protect the property of honest citizens.
