Thiès : 8 ans de prison ferme requis contre quatre hommes poursuivis pour actes contre nature
The defendants Kalidou Diallo, alias Pape Kane, Mamadou Seydou Diallo, El Hadj Mamadou Lamine Fall and Amath Khady Thiam appeared before the Thiès court of flagrant offenses for association of criminals, reciprocal unnatural acts and voluntary transmission of HIV.
The case dates back to October 17, 2026, when the Nguinth police station arrested four individuals. The investigation was launched following information indicating that meetings had been arranged through a dating app between men.
According to the investigation, police infiltrated the platform and arranged meetings with suspects. This is how Kalidou Diallo, alias "Pape Kane," was arrested at his home in the Hersent neighborhood.
In court, he explained that he had met an individual on the website before inviting him to his home. But his visitor told him he was a police officer and arrested him. Analysis of his phone allowed investigators to discover several conversations with men as well as pornographic videos depicting sexual acts between men.
Also prosecuted for intentional transmission of HIV, Kalidou Diallo maintained that he was unaware he was carrying the virus.
The three other defendants were also arrested using the same method. When questioned, Amath Khady Thiam admitted to frequenting the dating site, while denying having had sexual relations with men. However, investigators discovered homosexual WhatsApp conversations on his phone.
El Hadj Mamadou Lamine Fall explained that he had registered on the platform hoping to obtain a trip abroad. However, an examination of his phone revealed his participation in several WhatsApp groups for men. Investigators notably found a message in which he asked someone: "Mba linga yor reuy na?"
As for Mamadou Seydou Diallo, a community worker, he claimed he frequented the platform to raise awareness among users about homosexuality. This explanation contradicts the evidence uncovered during the investigation. During his preliminary hearing, he admitted to having had sexual relations with several men, including in Ivory Coast. Police also discovered condoms and various lubricants in his room.
In his closing argument, the public prosecutor stated that the four defendants had been caught red-handed organizing sexual encounters, unaware that they were dealing with police officers. He also emphasized the findings made after their phones were examined.
He therefore requested eight years of imprisonment for each of the four defendants.
The verdict is expected on November 11, 2026.
